Ceramic Disc Capacitor 100nF




The marking on these capacitors is 104Z.  104 is the capacitance value in picofarads (pF) where this is read as 1,0, followed by four zeros.  C6 is used in conjunction with PNP emitter follower transistor Q3 to change the changing envelope of the AM radio signal into an audio sound signal.  Q3 is acting rather like an active diode, pulling the voltage on C6 down much harder than R7 can pull it back up.  The result is demodulation of the radio signal.
