Miniature Slide Switch, PCB Mount Type SPDT

The schematic symbol shown for S1 here is actually a single throw type. The radio uses just two connections on a double throw switch to connect the battery. SPDT stands for single pole double throw. On such a switch, there is one connection usually in the middle which connects to either of two other connections depending on the position of the switch lever. You may also see this type referred to as 1P2T.
